Reality Capture for Construction and Engineering
Digital ways of working can improve productivity, minimise risk and reduce costs of building and infrastructure projects. By aligning to BIM, streamlining workflows and collaboration between all stakeholders including architects, engineers and construction contractors, project are completed on time to budget.
Reality Capture allows digital data to be collected at every stage of a construction project to gain a 3D digital representation of an environment or site, this helps improve efficiency and ultimately leads to increased profitably. This e-book explores the need for digitalisation and the role that Reality Capture can play throughout the construction process, and how projects can be designed, planned and executed based on accurate data that fuses the real world with a digital world.
What is Reality Capture?
Reality capture is the process of capturing a site to gain a digital representation of the environment. Point clouds, 3D data-sets or images are converted to represent the closest depiction of reality. With accurate “digital reality”, AEC professionals are able to use real-world information to visualise conditions, make smart decisions and improve project outcomes by minimising errors, reducing costs and improving build quality.
